Artists Statement
I have always been awed by the beauty of the natural world. When I work with the materials nature provides, I pay close attention to the language of color, form, and texture in order to create a harmony and flow that is both visual and tactile. When a piece has been completed, I never feel that “I” made it. The sense is more that I’ve participated in a cooperative process with the materials and something ineffable and unseen. It makes me happy to see the results and happy when these give pleasure to others.
About the Work
The necklaces, bracelets, earrings and mixed media collages tend to be dramatic with often unusual combinations of elements. For example, glass may be mixed with emeralds, or clay with pure silver. At times the work will feature ethnic elements or found objects that represent a range of cultures from around the world. Whether an item has medieval tomb beads or modern Lucite cubes, each piece has a story to tell. I hope that you will love and enjoy these creations and their stories as much as I do.
